Enovid/NOWONDER™: Protection for a Healthy Winter Season

Table of Contents

White Paper Nose with Enovid Nasal SprayLooking to boost your immune system for winter? As winter nears, the chance of catching a cold goes up. The average American adult gets the common cold a few times a year, and it’s often believed that colder weather causes more people to stay indoors, making it easier for viruses to spread in close quarters. However, research suggests that colder temperatures might also affect us biologically by reducing the immune response in the nose, increasing our risk of getting sick.

Enovid/NOWONDER™ contains the proprietary compound Nitric Oxide Nasal Spray (NONS). It is also marketed under the brand name VIRX. NONS acts as a “hand sanitizer for the nose” by forming a physical barrier in the nasal passages to block infections. It also provides a “chemical barrier” with nitric oxide, known for fighting germs. NONS generates a small amount of nitric oxide with each inhalation. This is possible thanks to SaNOtize’s unique technology, which releases the nitric oxide (NO) molecules exactly when they are needed.

How long until Enovid/NOWONDER™ starts working?

In Phase 3 clinical trials, the spray was found to be effective within 24 hours of treatment. Each bottle provides enough spray for one person to use twice a day for a month, helping to protect against infection.

How Enovid/NOWONDER™ Boosts the Immune System for Winter

Enovid/NOWONDER™ nasal spray uses nitric oxide to fight respiratory infections and boost the immune system for winter. You can buy it over the counter without a prescription. Nitric oxide (NO) is a molecule found naturally in the body that helps by widening blood vessels and supporting the immune system. It was first approved for medical use to treat a condition in newborns called blue baby syndrome, which involves high blood pressure in the lungs. For many years, researchers have also looked into nitric oxide’s strong ability to kill germs, including many different types of pathogens. Studies show that when the right amount of nitric oxide is used at an infection site, it can kill the germs without harming human cells.

Enovid/NOWONDER™ benefits the immune system in several ways, as nitric oxide fights germs in several ways. As a protective shield, it stops pathogens from getting into cells and copying themselves. In one-celled organisms like bacteria and fungi, NO causes DNA damage and stops DNA repair. It also harms lipids through a process called lipid peroxidation. These actions make NO a potent germ-fighter!

When to use Enovid/NOWONDER™?

Enovid/NOWONDER™ benefits the respiratory system and helps protect against respiratory infection. It should be used before and after possible exposure to any kind of danger. It’s especially important for people in high-risk places or those who have been around others who are infected. This includes situations like using public transportation, being in healthcare facilities, attending daycare centers, shopping in malls, and attending concerts or sports events.

Dosage

To boost the immune system for winter, Enovid/NOWONDER™ can be used 3-4 times a day in normal situations or up to 6 times a day if you think you have been or are going to be exposed in enclosed spaces with people who might have already been infected. This is particularly important after being near someone who has recently tested positive.

Can nitric oxide block viruses?

Nitric oxide creates a chemical barrier because it has antimicrobial properties. This barrier keeps invaders from settling in the nasal passages and helps to boost the immune system for winter.  For years, scientists at SaNOtize have been researching how nitric oxide could be used to prevent infections.

Natural Remedies for Infections and Boosting Immunity

Women dressed in winter gear in snowThe nose is one of the first contact points between the outside world and our body. When invading particles enter, the cells in our nasal passages quickly react to try to remove them. However, research shows that colder temperatures can greatly weaken this immune response. This is why keeping our immune systems strong during winter is particularly important. Here are some of the best ways to do that, which will enhance the Enovid/NOWONDER™ benefits:

Get enough quality sleep

Sleep and your immune system are closely connected. If a person doesn’t get enough sleep or the sleep they get is poor, they’re more likely to get sick. Adults should try to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Teens need about 8 to 10 hours, while younger kids and babies may need up to 14 hours. If sleep is a struggle, avoid screens for an hour before bed because the blue light from electronics like phones, TVs, and computers can mess with the body’s natural sleep cycle. Other tips for better sleep include sleeping in a dark room or using a sleep mask, sticking to a regular bedtime, and exercising regularly.

Eat more wholefoods

Eating whole plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes can boost health with their rich nutrients and antioxidants. These antioxidants help reduce inflammation by fighting off harmful free radicals, which can build up in the body and cause problems. The fiber in plant foods also supports your gut microbiome, which is the community of healthy bacteria in your gut. A strong gut microbiome can strengthen the immune system and prevent harmful germs from entering the body through your digestive system. Plus, fruits and vegetables are high in nutrients like vitamin C, which might shorten how long an infection lasts.

Eat more good fats

Healthy fats, such as those found in extra virgin olive oil and salmon, can help boost the immune system for winter by reducing inflammation. While some inflammation is a natural response to stress or injury, having too much over time can weaken the body’s immune defenses. Olive oil is known for its strong anti-inflammatory effects and is associated with a lower risk of chronic illnesses.

Eat more probiotic-rich foods

Fermented foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir, are packed with helpful bacteria called probiotics that live in the digestive system. These good bacteria can help the immune system by telling the difference between healthy cells and harmful germs. If eating fermented foods often is difficult, probiotic supplements may be an alternative.

Practice moderate exercise

While intense exercise for a long time can weaken the immune system, moderate exercise can actually strengthen it. Plus, doing regular moderate exercise can reduce inflammation and help immune cells regenerate regularly. Some examples of moderate exercise are brisk walking, cycling at a steady pace, jogging, swimming, and light hiking. It’s recommended that most people aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week.

Stress less

Managing stress and anxiety is important to boost the immune system for winter. When stress lasts a long time, it can cause inflammation and affect how immune cells work. To help handle stress, try activities like meditation, exercise, journaling, yoga, or other mindfulness practices. Seeing a counselor or therapist, either online or in person, can also be helpful.

Supplement wisely

While the benefits of Enovid/NOWONDER™  mainly work around the nose, some research suggests certain nutritional and herbal supplements might boost your immune system. For instance, taking 1,000–2,000 mg of vitamin C daily could shorten colds in adults and kids, though it won’t stop a cold from happening. Vitamin D might help if you’re deficient, but extra vitamin D won’t benefit you if your levels are already normal. Zinc supplements over 75 mg per day may cut cold duration. Elderberry might ease symptoms of respiratory infections, and echinacea could help you recover slightly faster from a cold, though the difference is minor. Garlic might also reduce the occurrence of colds.
