Most side effects are localized to the application site. Report any severe or persistent side effects to your doctor. Common side effects may include:
- Periungual erythema (redness around the nail)
- A burning sensation on the skin
- Contact dermatitis or rash
- Itching at the application site
- Changes in nail shape or color
Severe side effects are rare but can occur. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
Penlac is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nail) of the fingernails and toenails without lunula involvement, due to Trichophyton rubrum.
