Nitrolingual/Nitro Patch/Nitroderm Tts (generic name: glyceryl trinitrate) can be prescribed to treat angina pectoris. Angina pectoris is felt as chest pain in people with coronary artery diseases (narrowing of blood vessels that supply blood to the heart).Â
Glyceryl trinitrate is a vasodilator that can balance the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart and its energy requirement. It is available as a patch or a spray.
Dosage
Always follow the doctor’s instructions when using the medication.Â
The usual dosage of the Nitrolingual spray is one or two puffs of the spray applied beneath the tongue. This can be done three times in a row, every five minutes if symptoms do not improve. Seek medical attention right away if the symptoms haven’t improved.
The usual useage of the Nitroderm patch requires the application of a fresh one each day on the upper half of the body, choosing clean, non-hairy healthy skin. The patch should be applied immediately after it was removed from its package and the protective backin was peeled off.
It is important to read the instructions for proper use of both the Nitroderm Tts patch and the Nitrolingual spray that are contained in the product information leaflet.
Storage
The medications should be stored below 25 °C/77°F.
Check out our article attached here on how to properly dispose of the medication when it’s no longer needed.
