Most people who use Femara do not experience any adverse side effects. Doctors prescribe this medication because they assess the benefits of such treatment outweigh any likely unwanted effects.
Some of the side effects that have been reported include hot flashes, high cholesterol levels, fatigue, increased sweating, joint pain, and bone pain. Most of the side effects of Femara will go away after a few weeks of starting treatment.
Not all side effects are listed here. If these or other unlisted symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare provider or pharmacist.
Breast Cancer Post Menopause: Signs of breast cancer may include:Â
- A lump or swelling in the breast or armpit.
- Irritation or changes in breast skin.
- Redness or flaky skin around the nipple.
- Nipple discharge that is not breast milk.
- Any change in breast size or shape.
- Pain in any part of the breast.
Breast cancer diagnosis usually starts with an exam and talking about symptoms. Tests can check the breast for anything unusual. To know if it’s cancer, a piece of tissue is taken from the breast for testing.
Infertility: Femara is sometimes used off-label as a fertility treatment to increase the chances of ovulation.
