Restasis is a medicated eye drop that increases tear production. It is used to relieve the symptoms of dry eye syndrome, including burning, redness, dryness, grittiness, and the sensation of a foreign object stuck in the eye.
Restasis does not contain any preservatives.
Dosage
Doses should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Remove contact lenses before administering the dose.

In clinical trials, the only common adverse side effect reported was ocular burning. Less often, people reported visual disturbance like blurring, redness of the conjunctival blood vessels, discharge, excess tears, eye pain, sensation of foreign bodies in the eyes, itching or stinging.
The main symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome include:
- Red eyes
- A sensation of grittiness when blinking
- Stinging, burning or scratching sensations
- Blurred vision
- Eye fatigue
- Producing stringy mucus on the lids
- Sensitivity to light or difficulty driving at night
- Difficulty wearing contact lenses
- Watery eyes
Some of the common causes of dry eye symptoms include:
- Age-related changes. People over the age of 60 generally have lower levels of tear production.
- Gender-related hormonal changes. Dry Eye Syndrome is more common in premenopausal and menopausal women. It can also come from hormonal changes due to the use of birth control pills or during pregnancy.
- Vitamin A deficiency.
- Use of contact lenses or having had corrective corneal surgery
