ProFeme (bioidentical progesterone) is a skin cream that supplements the levels of progesterone in the body. Progesterone is a sex hormone that has an essential role in the ovulation cycle, menstruation, and fertilization.
Low levels of progesterone can be caused by failure to ovulate, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), excessive cortisol due to stress, hypothyroidism, elevated prolactin levels, low cholesterol levels, perimenopause or full menopause, removal of the ovaries (hysterectomy or oophorectomy), or excessive exercise and extreme dieting. The body also needs a balance between estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen dominance can cause or exacerbate breast and uterine cancers, fibroids, and endometriosis.
ProFeme can restore the natural balance between estrogen and progesterone, and correct the symptoms of estrogen dominance or progesterone deficiency.
Dosage
The dose will be determined by the doctor. Follow the instructions from the prescription.
ProFeme comes in a preloaded and measured applicator. In perimenopause, 0.3 ml of the cream should be applied on days 12 to 26 of each menstrual cycle. If bleeding starts 5–10 days after initiating treatment, stop applying the doses and start the cycle of application again 12 days later. In menopausal women and women who have undergone a hysterectomy or oophorectomy (surgical removal of the ovaries), 0.3 ml of the cream should be applied daily for the first three-quarters of a calendar month (22-23 days), with the remainder of the month dose-free. Afterward, the cycle should begin again.
For the conditions caused by estrogen dominance, such as Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and Postpartum Depression, follow the specific instructions of the prescription in terms of strength and timing of doses.
ProFeme should be applied to a large area of skin, typically the inner arms and the upper thigh or abdomen. Changes usually take effect after four to six weeks of continuous treatment. Some women may experience a return of menses, which is normal and should continue the therapy.

Because ProFeme mimics a natural hormone, there are very few negative side effects. There may be some breast tenderness and swelling, fluid retention or slight vaginal bleeding. If these or other unlisted symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare provider or pharmacist.
ProFeme supplies the sex hormone progesterone when the body is unable to produce sufficient quantities.
Progesterone deficiency (or estrogen dominance) may not cause any noticeable symptoms, but can be measured using a laboratory test that gives the Progesterone to Estradiol (Pg:E2) ratio. The ideal Pg:E2 ratio is between 100:1 to 300:1.
Symptoms like fatigue, difficulty sleeping, spotting, irregular periods, mood swings, depression, and anxiety may be felt when levels of progesterone are too low.
Important Information Regarding Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT):
HRT medications are powerful tools for managing hormonal changes. To ensure the medication’s safety and effectiveness, it’s important to understand who can benefit from it most. According to Israeli Ministry of Health regulations, ProFeme can currently only be prescribed for individuals assigned as female at birth.
