Pristiq is an antidepressant medication that contains the active ingredient desvenlafaxine succinate. Desvenlafaxine succinate works by increasing levels of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain, and is part of the drug group called ‘serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors’ (SNRIs).Â
