Mentax cream is generally safe to use. It is not reported to have caused serious side effects. However, some patients may develop an allergic reaction at the site of application, resulting in redness, burning, and itching.
Some other common side effects of Mentax cream include:
- Blistering
- Crusting
- Dryness
- Flaking
- Soreness

Mentax cream treats fungal infections affecting the skin including tinea (pityriasis) versicolor, ringworm, athlete’s foot, and jock itch. The common symptoms of these conditions include redness, itching, and swelling of the affected part.
- Tinea versicolor or pityriasis is a common fungal infection that causes abnormal discoloration resulting in darkening or lightening of the skin of the hands, legs, neck, and chest.
- Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection that usually affects the skin of the scalp and neck. It spreads easily by direct skin-to-skin contact and can also be spread from pets. The symptoms of ringworm infection include scaling.
- Athlete’s foot usually affects the skin between the toes. Athlete’s foot is more common in people whose feet are very sweaty due to long periods of strenuous activity and wearing tight-fitting shoes. Athlete’s foot is also common in diabetic patients.
- Jock itch is a type of fungal infection affecting the skin of the genitals, buttocks, and inner thighs. It is a type of ringworm infection. It is more common in people who wear tight-fitting clothes around the waist, resulting in the trapping of moisture.
