Lodorta, also known as Romezon DR, is a medicine used to treat patients with mild to severe rheumatoid arthritis. It is a slow-release medicine, which means it may take many hours before the medicine’s benefits are experienced. Therefore, it is very useful for treating morning stiffness that may accompany arthritis.Â
Lodorta contains an active ingredient called prednisone. Prednisone is a corticosteroid, part of the anti-inflammatory drug class. It lowers the swelling, redness, pain, stiffness, and heat in the infected joints.Â
The most common side effects may include the following:
- Cushing’s syndrome, a hormone imbalance that may cause upper body weight gain, rounding of the face, or a face rash
- Sugar, fat, and salt imbalance in the body may result in weight gain, diabetes, high cholesterol, water retention, and disturbances in heart rhythm
- Weakening of the immune system
- Clouding of the eye lens (cataract)Â
- Increase in eye pressure (glaucoma)Â
- Bruising or red marks on the skin
- Stretch marksÂ
- Change in the number of blood cells (increase or decrease)Â
- Muscle weaknessÂ
- OsteoporosisÂ
- Headache
