  • How much does Livalo lower cholesterol?

Livalo (pitavastatin), taken along with a heart-healthy diet and regular exercise, will help improve overall cholesterol levels. In clinical trials, Livalo in 4 mg doses reduced LDL (bad) levels by up to 45%.
  • Do statins interfere with sleep?

Researchers have found that fat-soluble statins like Livalo (pitavastatin) can cause insomnia or nightmares. They are able to more easily make their way across the blood-brain barrier, which isolates the brain from chemicals in the blood.
  • Can I take Livalo every other day?

The maximum recommended dosage is 4 mg once daily, with or without food and at the same time. Lowering the dose without consulting a healthcare provider is not advised. If a dose is skipped or missed, it should be taken as soon as possible, but not double-dosed.
  • Will my cholesterol go up if I stop statins?

If statin medication has been prescribed to lower cholesterol levels, it will probably be needed for life. Otherwise, cholesterol levels will likely go back up. Stopping the prescribed statin dosage can raise the risk of heart disease and other preventable health problems like stroke and heart attack.
  • What should you not take with Livalo?

Discuss with a pharmacist or doctor when using Livalo in combination with other cholesterol drugs like niacin and fibrates. These may increase a patient's risk of serious muscle problems.
  • Can I drink coffee with statins?

Caffeinated coffee blunts the myocardial protective effects of statins. Caffeine is a nonspecific adenosine receptor blocker, meaning drinking caffeinated coffee may block adenosine receptor activation.
