Estring is a hormone therapy used to treat post-menopausal changes in and around the vagina. It addresses vaginal dryness, burning or itching, recurrent urinary tract infections, discomfort during sex, urinary urgency or frequency.
Estring is a small, flexible ring made of silicone. The center of the Estring contains 2 mg of an estrogen named estradiol. It releases a consistent dose of estradiol into the vagina that lasts 90 days. Using Estring may help maintain the health of the urinary tract lining. This can help reduce the potential for recurring infections. Also, Estring can help with restoring thickness and moisture to the vaginal tissues, which alleviates symptoms such as dryness and discomfort.
Common side effects may include:
– Headache
– Breast pain
– Bloating, abdominal cramps
– Irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting
– Fluid retention
– Vaginal yeast infection

Estring is a hormone therapy indicated for treating different moderate to severe postmenopausal symptoms. These symptoms may include dryness of the vagina, burning, pruritus (itching), dyspareunia (painful intercourse), recurring urinary tract infections, urinary urgency or frequency.
Estring is not indicated for the treatment of pediatric patients.
