Entocort EC®/Budeson® (budesonide) is a synthetic steroid with an anti-inflammatory effect. It is commonly used in the treatment of Chron’s disease. It works within cells to prevent the release of certain important chemicals to the immune system. When these chemicals are decreased in the gut, inflammation is reduced.
The most common side effects of Entocort EC may include the following:
- Headache
- Infection
- Blurred vision
- Changes in behavior and mood
- Cushing’s syndrome
- Muscle and joint pain
- Disorder with the digestive system
- Osteoporosis

Entocort EC is a steroidal anti-inflammatory medication called a glucocorticosteroid. It is indicated for treating Crohn’s disease in the large and/or small intestine, collagenous colitis (inflammation of the large intestine), and autoimmune hepatitis (autoimmune inflammation of the liver).
