Cequa can be used with lubricating eye drops. It is advised to wait approximately 15 minutes between administration of the two meds.
Administration of a solution containing 0.09% cyclosporine solution helps produce more natural tears. A relapse of symptoms may occur if treatment with cyclosporine eye drops such as Cequa is discontinued. Cequa is normally prescribed to be used for at least about six months, and full-time use is common.
Cequa is not a steroid medication. The cyclosporine solution in Cequa is classified as a calcineurin inhibitor.
Follow the prescribing doctor's instructions. The standard dosage is one drop of Cequa twice daily, with a gap of approximately 12 hours. Insert the drop into each eye using the single-use vial. It should be administered immediately after opening, and the remaining contents should be discarded immediately after use.
