Amandin (generic name: amantadine) can be prescribed for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Amantadine belongs to the group of drugs called antidyskinetics.
Parkinson’s is a neurological disorder that affects muscle movements by interfering with nerve activities. As a result, patients’ muscle coordination is reduced, resulting in problems with maintaining balance and performing routine activities. There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s. Treatment with Amandin provides relief from symptoms such as stiffness, tremors, and shaking. Amandin may also help reduce repetitive, uncontrolled muscle movements and allow patients to perform routine activities more easily.
Amandin is believed to work by improving muscle coordination, thereby reducing stiffness and tremors. Regular use of this medication might normalize muscle movements and improve the patient’s mobility, which can significantly improve the patient’s quality of life.
Amandin is prescribed alone or in combination with other drugs, such as Renvela.

Amandin is primarily used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is a degenerative disorder affecting the brain. It develops when the cells in the nerves and the brain are damaged due to the effect of aging or other factors resulting in the impairment of their functions.
Advancing age is the most common risk factor for Parkinson’s.
Fine tremors of the hands and fingers are often the first visible sign of Parkinson’s disease. Over a period of time, patients may develop other symptoms, such as involuntary shaking, slowed movements, muscle stiffness, and inability to maintain balance.
If not treated properly, nerve damage associated with Parkinson’s can progress. As a result, patients may have difficulty performing routine activities, such as talking or having a conversation, walking, and getting dressed.
