Common Side Effects
Some people may experience common side effects when taking Mucolit. These are usually mild and may include:
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Headache
- Runny nose
- Gingivitis (gum inflammation)
If any of these effects persist or worsen, you should consult your doctor.
Rare and Serious Side Effects
In rare cases, more serious side effects can occur. You must contact a doctor or seek emergency medical help immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Stomach Ulcers: Symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or unexplained weight loss.
- Hypersensitivity Reactions: Look for rash, swelling, itching, blisters, peeling skin, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue.
- Severe Skin Reactions: Symptoms of Stevens-Johnson syndrome include severe rashes, peeling skin, blisters in the mouth, eyes, nose, or throat.
- Internal Bleeding: Signs such as vomiting blood or having black, tarry stools require immediate medical attention.
Mucolit is used for the treatment of respiratory tract disorders that involve the production of excessive or thick mucus (phlegm). It is often recommended for conditions such as:
- Chronic bronchitis
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Other conditions causing a productive, chesty cough
