Nizoral Cream (generic name: ketoconazole) is a topical antifungal medication used to treat
fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot,
ringworm, jock itch, and certain types of
seborrheic dermatitis.
Ketoconazole belongs to the group of medicines known as
imidazole antifungals. It works by blocking the production of
ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, which causes the fungi to weaken and die.
By eliminating the infection, it reduces itching, redness, scaling, and inflammation on the skin. Nizoral Cream is applied directly to the affected area and is generally used once or twice daily, depending on the condition. Because it acts locally, very little of the medicine is absorbed into the bloodstream, reducing the risk of systemic side effects. Learn more about Nizoral Cream at

Usual dosage
It is important to follow the dosage instructions printed on the label of the box.
For most fungal skin infections, Nizoral Cream is applied in a thin layer to the affected skin once or twice daily. Treatment usually lasts
2 to 4 weeks, depending on the type of infection.
In seborrheic dermatitis, longer or repeated courses may be necessary.
Wash and dry the affected area before applying, and spread the cream evenly, covering the skin around the lesion as well. Wash hands after each use to avoid spreading the infection.
If a dose is missed, apply it as soon as remembered unless it is close to the next scheduled dose.
Do not double dose.
Important: continue applying Nizoral Cream for the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent the infection from returning.

Nizoral Cream is used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), ringworm (tinea corporis), and cutaneous candidiasis.
It is also indicated for seborrheic dermatitis, a skin condition that causes scaly patches, redness, and dandruff. By killing or stopping the growth of fungi, ketoconazole reduces itching, redness, and discomfort while helping the skin heal.
It is not effective for bacterial or viral skin infections and should only be used for conditions confirmed to be caused by fungi or yeast.
