Escitalopram an oral antidepressant used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). SSRI’s are medications that regulate seretonin, which is an important hormone that affects mood, depression and anxiety.

Dosage

Follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions. You may be told to take it at a specific time. If a scheduled dose is missed, take it as soon as possible on the same day, but do not make up for the missed dose the next day. Escitalopram is usually taken once a day with or without food.
