Mirvaso (
generic name:Â brimonidine)Â can be prescribed for the treatment of persistent facial redness (erythema) caused by
rosacea in adults 18 years of age and older.
Brimonidine is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. When applied to the skin, it works by causing direct constriction of the small, dilated facial blood vessels, which reduces blood flow and, in turn, decreases the visible redness. The effect can be noticed as early as 30 minutes after application and typically lasts for up to 12 hours.
