Avapro is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
By lowering blood pressure, Avapro helps prevent serious cardiovascular events such as strokes and heart attacks. It also makes it easier for your heart to pump blood throughout the body.
Additionally, Avapro is prescribed to patients with type 2 diabetes to protect the kidneys by slowing the progression of diabetic kidney disease (nephropathy).
