Zoely (nomegestrol acetate 2.5 mg / estradiol 1.5 mg) is a once-daily combined oral contraceptive marketed by Theramex. It is distinctive as one of only two combined pills built on estradiol that is chemically identical to the estrogen the body produces naturally, rather than the synthetic ethinylestradiol found in most contraceptives. The nomegestrol acetate component is a highly selective progestogen derived from progesterone, with no androgenic activity, which contributes to a favorable metabolic and tolerability profile. Zoely is taken in a 24/4 schedule, 24 white active tablets followed by 4 yellow placebo tablets, and its long half-life helps maintain contraceptive effectiveness even if a dose is missed. It has been authorized in Europe since 2011 and carries a substantial real-world safety dataset, including the PRO-E2 study of over 101,000 women.
