Stiolto Respimat Inhalation Spray (generic names: tiotropium & olodaterol) is prescribed for long-term use to control symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults.
COPD is a chronic lung disease caused by chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or both. There is no cure for COPD. Stiolto’s role is to improve lung function and reduce the risk of flare-ups. It does not contain steroids. Tiotropium is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), and olodaterol is a long-acting β2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). The two medicines combine to open the airways and make breathing easier.   Stiolto inhalation spray is not meant for the treatment of acute attacks of breathing difficulties in people with COPD. There are rescue medicines (bronchodilators) that treat such sudden symptoms.
