Omnipod 5 is an advanced automated insulin delivery (AID) system designed for people with type 1 diabetes and insulin-requiring type 2 diabetes. It consists of a small, tubeless wearable “Pod,” a continuous glucose monitor (such as Dexcom G6, G7, or FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus), and a smartphone app or controller that manages insulin dosing. The system uses a built-in algorithm (SmartAdjust™ technology) to continuously analyze glucose readings and predict future levels. Based on this data, it automatically increases, decreases, or pauses insulin delivery every five minutes to help keep glucose within a target range.
