Nurtec is prescribed for adults as a preventative treatment for chronic migraines and can also be taken for the relief of episodic migraine attacks. It belongs to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor agonist therapeutic group.
Chronic migraine is diagnosed when a person has at least 15 headaches each month, and at least 8 of those were migraine attacks.
