Most people who use Monoprost do not experience any adverse side effects. Doctors prescribe this medication because they assess the benefits of such treatment outweigh any likely unwanted effects.
Some of the side effects that have been reported include eye redness (conjunctival hyperemia), blurred vision, burning or stinging upon instillation, itching, foreign body sensation, and punctate keratitis (tiny surface corneal irritation). These occur typically improve with continued use.
There is a risk of bacterial keratitis if sterility is compromised. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye and discard containers immediately after use
