Gaviscon is used for the relief of:
- Acid Reflux (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease – GERD), which is a condition where stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, causing heartburn and irritation. Gaviscon forms a barrier to prevent acid from rising into the esophagus.
- Heartburn, felt as a burning sensation in the chest or throat. Heartburn is more often experienced after eating or lying down. Gaviscon neutralizes stomach acid to relieve heartburn quickly.
- Indigestion (Dyspepsia), which causes dscomfort or pain in the upper abdomen due to the build-up of stomach acid, bloating, or gas. Gaviscon helps alleviate indigestion symptoms by neutralizing acid and reducing gas.
Symptoms that Gaviscon treats often include burning sensation in the chest or throat, regurgitation of acid, and bloating.
