Dosage

The doctor will determine the dosage and treatment plan. The typical doses are as follows:

To prevent milk production after childbirth: 1 mg (two 0.5 mg tablets) on the first day.
To halt milk secretion during breastfeeding: 0.25 mg (half of a Dostinex 0.5 mg tablet) every 12 hours for two days.
To lower prolactin levels in other conditions: 0.5 mg weekly, either as a single dose or split into two doses. The dose can be increased gradually until fully effective (up to 2 mg weekly).

For better tolerance, a doctor may suggest taking Dostinex with or after a meal to minimize feelings of nausea or vomiting. Avoiding alcohol is recommended as it can heighten the risk of dizziness.
