Can I drink alcohol with Creon?

Alcohol can cause the pancreas to become inflamed and worsen the condition of EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency), which may be due to cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, surgical removal of the pancreas or other conditions. Because of this, it's best to avoid alcohol if you're taking Creon (pancrelipase). The advice of your healthcare provider should be sought about drinking alcohol.

What happens if you don't take Creon with food?

This medication only works when there's food to digest inside the body. Any scheduled dose of Creon should be skipped if a meal doesn’t follow. The dose cannot be made up, but a regular dose can be taken just before the next meal or snack.

Creon® (lipase, protease, and amylase) is an combined enzyme replacement therapy for patients with deficient exocrine pancreatic secretions, cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, post-pancreatectomy, ductal obstructions caused by cancer of the pancreas, pancreatic insufficiency and for steatorrhea of malabsorption syndrome and post-gastrectomy (Billroth II and total).
