Currently, there is no cure for multiple myeloma, and Blenrep is not considered a cure. An infusion-related reaction is a side effect that can happen during or shortly after you receive an IV medication like Blenrep. Symptoms can range from mild, such as fever, chills, or a rash, to more severe, like trouble breathing or a drop in blood pressure. Your healthcare team will monitor you closely during the infusion. Be sure to tell your nurse immediately if you feel unwell or notice any unusual symptoms while receiving your treatment.

You should discuss vaccinations with your oncologist before receiving any. Live vaccines—which contain a weakened version of a virus—are typically not recommended for people with weakened immune systems from cancer treatments like Blenrep. Inactivated vaccines, such as the flu shot, may be safer, but they might also be less effective. Your doctor can provide guidance on the timing and types of vaccines that are safe for you.

Blenrep is a specialized medication that requires careful storage by the pharmacy or hospital. It is supplied as a powder in a vial that must be refrigerated. Before your infusion, a healthcare professional will mix the powder with sterile water to create the liquid solution. This prepared solution is then diluted into an IV bag for your treatment. You will not need to store the medication at home, as it is prepared and administered in a clinical setting.

There are no specific foods that you are required to avoid while taking Blenrep.
