Trelegy Ellipta is a medication that contains three active ingredients: fluticasone, umeclidinium, and vilanterol. Trelegy Ellipta is used as a maintenance medication for asthma and moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps to keep the airways less reactive and reduces the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. Fluticasone belongs to a class of medications known as inhaled corticosteroids (ICS). It works by reducing swelling and inflammation in the airways of the lungs, which are often inflamed in people with asthma and COPD. This drug helps to prevent and control symptoms like difficulty breathing, chest tightness, wheezing, and coughing. Bronchodilators like umeclidinium and vilanterol are medications used to help people with asthma and COPD. Umeclidinium is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA). Vilanterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). They help to widen the air passages (bronchodilation), making it easier for individuals with asthma and COPD to breathe and reduce the symptoms of bronchoconstriction. Trelegy Ellipta inhaler comes in two strengths. Trelegy Ellipta 92/55/22 in Israel is the equivalent of 100/62.5/25 in the US. Trelegy Ellipta 184/55/22 in Israel is the equivalent of 200/62.5/25 in the US. It is intended for long-term maintenance treatment of asthma in patients aged 18 years and older who can’t be adequately controlled on other maintenance asthma medication. Trelegy Ellipta is not intended to relieve acute breathing problems caused by asthma. Trelegy Ellipta inhaler in the 92/55/22 mcg strength is intended for the maintenance treatment of moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults who can’t be treated by other medications. This medicine is not intended for children or adolescents below the age of 18 years.

Dosage

Trelegy Ellipta should be used every day as prescribed. It should not be used to relieve a sudden attack of breathlessness or wheezing brought on by an asthma attack or other symptoms of COPD. In such instances, it is necessary to use a quick-acting rescue inhaler (such as Ventolin). The recommended dosage for asthma and COPD is one inhalation of Trelegy Ellipta each day at the same time. The medicine’s effects last for 24 hours. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If you forgot to inhale the medicine at the required time, do not inhale twice to compensate for the forgotten dose. Inhale the usual dose at the proper time. If you become wheezy or breathless, use your rescue inhaler (such as salbutamol) and seek medical advice.

Sore, raised patches in the mouth or throat caused by a fungal infection (candidiasis).
Infection of the nose, sinuses or throat
Infection of the upper airways
Itchy, runny, or blocked nose
Pain in the back of the mouth and throat
Inflammation of the sinuses
Inflammation of the lungs (bronchitis)
Flu (influenza)
Headache
Cough
Hoarseness.

If you experience either of the following reactions immediately after using the Trelegy Ellipta inhaler, stop using the medicine and seek medical help immediately, as you may have a serious condition:

Tightness of the chest, coughing, wheezing or breathlessness (may be signs of paradoxical bronchospasm).
Eye pain or discomfort, temporary blurring of vision, seeing halos or colored images, and red eyes (may be signs of an acute attack of narrow-angle glaucoma).
