Topisalen / Locasalene (flumethasone & salicylic acid) is a local ointment used to treat defects or lesions on the skin (dermatoses.) It is prescribed to patients who suffer from corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, including psoriasis and eczema. It is highly effective in managing hyperkeratosis (a condition that causes patches of thick, rough skin.) Flumethasone is a type of corticosteroid, and salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent. Flumethasone and salicylic acid help relieve the symptoms of dermatoses by suppressing the abnormal activities of the immune system. Salicylic acid also helps to break down the outer layer of the skin and locks in moisture. This helps to relieve the symptoms of hyperkeratosis, such as excessive dryness and scaling.

Dosage

Topisalen must be used as prescribed and instructed, in accordance with the product information leaflet. It is a local appointment ointment that should can be applied only on the affected parts of the skin. Before use, pPatients must wash their hands before application, and again afterwards unless the affected area is on the hands. It is important to apply enough ointment to cover all parts of the affected are part of the skin, and rub it in gently.
