If after taking Sulfazine, a sudden allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) occurs, with symptoms like swelling of the face, tongue, or throat making it difficult to breathe or swallow, or there is wheezing, hives, rash, blistering, or peeling of the skin, call a doctor or 911 right away, or go to an emergency room immediately.
If a rash develops with blistering that affects the tongue and mouth, it could be a sign of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). A rash on the upper face (cheeks and nose bridge) can also occur. In these cases, report immediately to the doctor.
Most people who use Sulfazine do not experience any negative side effects. Doctors prescribe Sulfazine because they assess the benefits of such treatment outweigh any likely unwanted effects.
Some of the side effects that have been reported include heartburn, indigestion, and nausea.

Salazopyrin is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and Salazopyrin EN can also be used for IBD and rheumatoid arthritis.Â
Crohn’s Disease: Common signs and symptoms of Crohn’s disease include abdominal pain, blood in the stool, nausea, vomiting, prolonged diarrhea, unexplained weight loss, and fever.Â
Ulcerative Colitis: Symptoms of ulcerative colitis can vary depending on how bad and where the inflammation is. Some usual signs are diarrhea (sometimes with blood or pus), bleeding from the bottom, abdominal pain and cramps, pain in the rectum, feeling like you urgently need to go to the bathroom but not being able to, losing weight, feeling tired, and having a fever.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (Salazopyrin EN only): Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis can include tender, warm, and swollen joints, along with stiffness that is often more pronounced in the mornings and after periods of inactivity. Other signs may involve fatigue, fever, and a decrease in appetite.
