In rare cases, a sudden allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) may occur shortly after taking Actos, with symptoms like swelling of the face, tongue, or throat that make it difficult to breathe or swallow, or there is wheezing, hives, rash, blistering, or peeling of the skin. Call a doctor or emergency services right away.
Pregnant women should not be using Actos unless this has been discussed with a healthcare provider, as it may harm the unborn baby or pose a risk of miscarriage. Women planning to become pregnant should use appropriate birth control measures during treatment and for one month after the last dose. Pioglitazone may pass into breast milk. Mothers should consult a doctor before using this medicine while breastfeeding.
