Quviviq ^*

Quviviq, generic name daridorexant, is a prescription sleep medication used to treat insomnia in adults, including difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep. It belongs to a class of medicines called dual orexin receptor antagonists, or DORAs. Unlike benzodiazepines or Z-drugs, which act more directly as sedatives, Quviviq works by blocking the activity of orexin, a natural brain chemical involved in wakefulness. Quviviq is usually taken once nightly, shortly before bedtime, and only when the patient can remain in bed for a full night. It is available as 25 mg and 50 mg tablets. Common cautions include next-day sleepiness, impaired alertness, use with alcohol or other sedating medications, and interactions with medicines that affect CYP3A metabolism. It should not be used in patients with narcolepsy.
