If symptoms of a sudden severe allergic reaction occur after application of Derma-Smoothe, with symptoms like swelling of the face, tongue, or throat making it difficult to breathe or swallow, or there is wheezing, hives, rash, blistering, or peeling of the skin, call a doctor or 911 right away, or go to an emergency room immediately.
Pregnant women should use Derma‑Smoothe/FS oil cautiously. If used during pregnancy, it should be applied to the smallest area of skin and for the shortest possible duration. Breastfeeding women should avoid applying directly to the nipple or areola area to minimize exposure to the infant.
Most users will not experience serious side effects when used properly. Some local reactions may occur, especially with extended or occluded use.

Derma‑Smoothe/FS oil is approved for psoriasis of the scalp in adults. Scalp psoriasis causes red, scaly, sometimes itchy or painful patches on the scalp. The oil reduces inflammation and itching, helping to relieve plaque thickness and improve scalp appearance.
The medication is not approved for other skin areas such as the face, armpits, groin, or diaper regions, unless specifically directed by a physician. Use in these areas increases the risk of local side effects like thinning skin, stretch marks, or spider veins (telangiectasia).
Some healthcare providers may prescribe Derma‑Smoothe/FS oil off-label for atopic dermatitis in adults or older children (≥ 2 years), applying thinly twice daily for up to 4 weeks. Off‑label use requires close monitoring for side effects and slowing treatment once skin improves.
