Men taking Mekinist with a female partner who can become pregnant should also use effective contraception during treatment and for four months after.

If you vomit after taking a dose of Mekinist, you should not take another dose on that day. Simply wait until your next scheduled dose and take it at the regular time. The duration of your Mekinist treatment depends on the type of cancer and your response to the medication. For melanoma after surgery, it is typically taken for about one year. Mekinist commonly causes skin-related side effects, including rash, acne-like breakouts, dry skin, and itchiness.
